SpecTips - Tips for Specifying Carlisle Edge Metal and the Edge-to-Edge Warranty

Specify SecurEdgeor Shop-Fabricated Metal for inclusion in Carlisle’s Edge-to-Edge Warranty

When discussing performance with specifiers, roof consultants, and engineers, a point almost everyone can agree on is the importance of the roof edge. The roof edge acts as the first line of defense against wind uplift andis often the most critical component preventing blow offs or catastrophic damage to a roof system.

As roofing has evolved and system warranties have become the standard, edge metal is still often left out of the warrantable system or overlooked in warranty considerations. Prefabricated edge metal systems like SecurEdge are often“value-engineered” out of a project. Instead, contractors will fabricate their own edge metal using metal flat sheets from a discretionary provider and thus the metal is not covered.

The development of Carlisle’s metal flat sheet program and the Edge-to-Edge warranty make it possible to eliminate this practice and ensure edge metal, even if it’s shop-fabricated, can be included in the total system warranty. Carlisle’s metal flat sheet program allows contractors to shop-fabricate their own edge metal for inclusion in Carlisle’s new Edge-to-Edge Total Roofing System Warranty. The Edge-to-Edge warranty ensures that one of the most important components of the roofing system is backed by the Carlisle total system warranty.
