Sure-Seal® Cool Gray EPDM Protects the Reimagined Great River Children’s Museum

The Great River Children’s Museum in St. Cloud, Minnesota, underwent a major transformation that included reroofing five unique roof areas across multiple elevations and deck types. McDowall Company selected Carlisle SynTec Systems' 60-mil Sure-Seal Cool Gray EPDM membrane with Factory-Applied Tape™ and CAV-GRIP® III Adhesive to meet the project’s challenges, including cold-weather installation, extensive mechanical curbs, and a rooftop play patio. The team installed new vapor barriers, multiple layers of insulation, tapered systems for proper drainage, and adhered EPDM across concrete, steel, and wood decks, all while navigating winter temperatures and complex rooftop equipment. The result is a long-lasting, high-performance roof that supports the museum’s mission of accessibility, imagination, and education for Central Minnesota families.
